Eldorado Springs Real Estate Information

A small town less than 10 miles south of Boulder and about 30 miles northwest of Denver, Eldorado Springs, Colorado, is a census-designated place located within the confines of Boulder County. It is about 2.4 square miles in area, and located at an elevation of 5,750 feet sitting just below Eldorado Canyon, which shares its name. The town averages 245 sunny days a year.

Eldorado Springs is a small community, with a population of just over 500 as of the 2000 census. The town's primary attraction is the Eldorado Canyon State Park , a large park known for its climbing and hiking sites: there are more than 500 rock-climbing routes in the park, and in the winter it is a popular site for cross-country skiers and snowshoers. The park is made up of two patches of land connected together by a 5.5-mile hiking trail along South Boulder Creek, a popular picnicking area. There are 12 miles of hiking trails and mountain biking can be done on the Walker Ranch Loop. The park is home to a large amount of wildlife,from mountain lions and black bears to golden eagles and seven species of bats.

The town is also known as the home of Eldorado Springs Resort, a historic resort that has been in operation for more than 100 years. The resort's swimming pool gets its water straight from artesian springs in the mountains and was once so popular, it earned the town the nickname of the Coney Island of the West.

Eldorado is home to its own post office and a cafe. The most popular industries for residents to work in include professional, scientific, and technical services, construction and health care, with the nearest hospital just 8 miles away in Louisville. For transportation needs, the nearest commercial-use airport is in Denver, and the nearest Amtrak railway station is in Boulder. The state's largest university, the University of Colorado-Boulder, is just minutes away. In addition there are also many schools in Denver, and community colleges in Lakewood and Westminster, both under 20 miles away. Grade-school children attend schools in Boulder.
